I managed to shave an excellent five shots off my routine score recently, and the fantastic thing about it is that I revised nothing about my physical game but only my perspective towards the round. After having a hard time for a little while now shooting between 90 and 95 and hitting a serious plateau I was feeling seriously frustrated simply because no matter what I attempted to change about my game I simply could not go lower. I even thought learning golf was so tough until I decided to gave up.
After shooting a score similar to this for around the 5th time I was sitting down thinking about the round and I discovered something so simple but I had never had the thought before, that I could simply manage the round to eliminate the double bogies. It was the easiest thing and yet I had never thought about it, the challenge was that facing demanding shots around the course I would begin to imagine like Tiger Woods and attempt to put the ball three feet from the hole. All I had to do was leave my ego back in the bag and planning a 10-15 meters putt for birdie, in this way the most severe I could do is a bogey. If I had tried to play the flop shot I would have finished in the bunker, be lucky to get out within 15 meters of the hole and at the best get a double leaving the whole ready to strike my next drive. Playing safe and keeping my cool I would save a minimum of one shot or possibly two and leave the entire feeling average to good about playing the next hole.
